Materials Needed:
- Empty 1.5 L Plastic Water Bottle (Cut in half. The lower part of the plastic bottle is to be used for this project)
- Felt Cloth - Pink, Red, White, Brown
- Needle
- Thread - Black, White, Red, Brown, Pink
- Scissors/Cutter
- Tape measure/ Something used to measure
Measurements for the templates you're going to cut out from a piece of paper or card stock before cutting it out from felt cloth:
- Pink Circle Felt: use the mouth of the bottle to draw an outline for the base and top of the bubble tea cup (2 pcs)
- White Circle Felt: 0.5 cm larger than the pink circle felt (1 pc)
- Pink Rectangular Felt: 28 cm by 15 cm (1 pc)
- White Rectangular Felt: 29 cm by 2 cm (1 pc)
- Red Square Felt: 4cm by 4 cm (1 pc)
- Small different sized circles for the pearls
Step by Step Procedure on How to Make This Project:
1. Once you have cut out the pieces of felt cloth that you'll be needing for this project, get the pink rectangular cloth and lay it horizontally on your work table. By using the black thread and needle, use back stitch to sew in a kawaii face for your bubble tea coin bank. (Preferably stitch it on the lower left part of your rectangular cloth.
2. Next, get the small brown circles you cut and use felt stitch to attach it to your rectangular cloth.
It should look like this.
3. Then use pink thread to attach one of the pink circle felt to the base of your rectangular felt by blanket stitch.
4. Pull it inside out and insert the plastic bottle you cut to to be your guide on closing the cup with blanket stitch from the inside.
5. When it's closed, pull out the plastic bottle so you could pull it inside out so it would be your bubble tea cup which is obviously kawaii, right? :)
6. Next, insert your plastic bottle in what you've sewn and it will support your coin bank so it will be standing upright.
7. After inserting the plastic bottle inside, get your your 2nd pink circle felt and also the white one and you will start sewing the lid of your bubble tea coin bank. In the middle of each circle, cut a straight line and slits on either side of it. This is what you should cut.
After, cutting the dotted lines on your felt cloth. Fold the long lines you've cut and sew it so you will have the opening for your coin bank where you'll be inserting your money to save later once you're done. Then also fold the two short sides and sew them, too. Use pink thread for the circle felt cloth and white thread for the white one. They should look like this when you're done sewing them.
8. Attach the pink felt circle to your bubble tea cup to close it.
9. Next is to make the lid of your bubble tea cup. Get your long rectangular white felt to your white felt circle. Use blanket stitch for this.
10. After that, get you square red felt and fold it in half. Sew the long end together then pull it inside out. It will be the straw to be attached to the lid you've sewn.
11. Attach your red felt straw to your bubble tea cup lid by sewing.
12. After that, get your lid then align its hole on the top of your bubble tea cup and sew it there with tiny stitches so that it wouldn't be seen when you're done attaching it.
13. And there you have it! You're own Kawaii Bubble Tea Coin Bank! :)
